SLINav

Whoops! I protected a bunch of templates last night. I was trying to only do ones which were not necessary to be editable. Fixed it though. Let me know if there are any others that need to be unprotected. Titantalk 10:30, 27 April 2017 (CDT)

RE: Assimilated Torres Stats

Hmmm... I did not close and then reopen my game, just noticed that ship ability was not there at level 30 and I took a screen shot in case my edit was questioned. How on earth do you figure that stuff out? Do you open and close your game before entering anything into the wiki? (no-signature) Manawar (talk) 13:57, May 6, 2017‎ (CDT)

Take a look

See: Star Trek Timelines:Ranks/Requests/Middlehead, Titantalk 17:46, 14 May 2017 (CDT)

Hey, there will never be an obligation to do anything as an admin, basically its just to allow you to have additional tools, speciically "delete". Only real requirement is if your going to be inactive for an extended period of time (0 edits for over a month), let me or anyother Bureacrat know, so we can temporarily remove your rank for security reasons. Titantalk 17:43, 17 May 2017 (CDT)
Just promoted you to Admin. Please let me know if you have any questions. Titantalk 01:08, 21 June 2017 (CDT)

Passive Ship Item Stats

Hi Middlehead!
I noticed you used {{skill|acc|}} on some item pages. While this will result in an incorrect icon and link (=colored icon, which means something different), I really liked the idea of adding an icon here.
So I extended the {{skill}} template with new keywords for passive ship stats, which will now show the correct white icon, and also link to a more useful place. See that page for examples.
Consequently, I changed your edits to now use {{skill|passiveacc|}}, resulting in "Accuracy Passive Accuracy Stats".
Just letting you know. Cheers, --Crunch (talk) 16:33, 24 July 2017 (CDT)

Crew ATB table

When creating the ATB table, don't leave blank lines in it. It looks nice when you're editing, but it messes up the formatting of the table. I fixed Admiral Picard and Alidar Jarok so you can look at both of those for examples of what I mean. I spent about an hour last night trying to figure out why the blank lines mess up the formatting, but couldn't fix it without removing all of them. --Darxide (talk) 14:16, 29 July 2017 (CDT)

Effect of Starbase bonuses on crew data

Aside from the lv100 stats DB gives us, we have to rely on player-submitted data for all crew stats. But the fact that many players are in fleets brings into doubt the reliability of submitted crew skills for levels below 100. So far, my solution is rough: divide the displayed in-game skill by whatever the bonus happens to be (e.g, with a DIP bonus of 1%, I divide the displayed base by 1.01). This can only give us an approximate number. I'd like to ask other editors if they have any thoughts on how we accommodate starbase bonuses? Ashenjuniper (talk) 18:48, 3 September 2017 (CDT)

Ilia

I noticed you've changed Ilia's immortalized SCI base from 1211. I don't believe the character has had a covert build change. It seems like you actually have a 1% SCI bonus, which would explain the difference (1223÷1.01=1211). I'd like us to make sure that the info we enter takes starbase bonuses into account, so we can have a "proper" skill number to work from. Ashenjuniper (talk) 02:37, 4 September 2017 (CDT)

"Smart quotes"

Hi Middlehead. Please try to avoid using "smart quotes" (the bendy ones "auto-corrected" by some word processors). They cause inconsistencies (and possibly worse). I've replaced the ones in We Who Are To Die#Epilogue. --Tygra Dax (talk) 01:37, 23 January 2018 (CST)

Crewmembers Category Pages

Hi. Thanks for updating Crewmember Category Pages. But please dont change standards applied in all series Category Pages:

  • Crewmembers placed in the first section and named as "Main crew of... Discovery/Voyager/DS9..." are not repeated in following sections - every crewmember is there only once
  • Last section - "Other characters", where are crewmembers from other series - there are only links to character pages, not links to actual crewmembers.

Thanks for following this standards - you may also discuss them in talk pages, if you wish. --Koba44 (talk) 01:21, 19 February 2018 (CST)

Hi again. Thanks for adding episode info to crewmember page as in the new Polywater Yar. Just please observe the standard, that TV series name (as Star Trek: The New Generation) is in Italics and episode link is in regular font. Also episode name is in quotation marks. Thanks! --Koba44 (talk) 11:00, 12 August 2018 (CDT)

Updating Ship Stats

Hi Middlehead! I noticed you regularly update the ships stats pages. I guess not many people know about this page (as it isn't announced anywhere), but would you be so kind and keep track of the dates on which you added (or checked) any levels of any ship on the Talk:Ships page?
We're trying to keep track on that page which ship stats have been confirmed as "current", as there is no way to easily track that otherwise, and as each player usually has access to the stats of only one level for each ship.
Just add the date to any particular level of any ship that you confirmed, corrected, or added to the ship pages. They are sorted alphabetically in the source.
The most important entries are the ones with "??", as they haven't been checked since the last announced ship overhaul in Dec 2016. But if you like you can of course also update the other dates, color-coded by the time since they were last checked - however, this is only relevant to catch unannounced DB changes/fixes to the stats.
Once DB adds new ships, they will have to be added to Template:ShipStatsLastConfirmed (and Template:ShipsNav). Just tell Titan, Darxide, or me, and we can update that, or you can update it yourself.
Thanks a lot! :o) Cheers, --Crunch (talk) 06:45, 8 April 2018 (CDT)

Commander

Hey Middlehead, just promoted you to Commander. That should allow a few additional tools for you to use. Thanks for contributing to the wiki! Titantalk 01:57, 13 April 2018 (CDT)

Would you tell me what I'm doing wrong on my Crafting Table edits that you keep undoing? TY, Joesage2 (talk) 15:03, 10 May 2018 (CDT)

Infinity

I noticed you renamed "Infinity" page to "Infinity (Planet)" page without redirection. I understand this needed to be done, but please correct all links to that page BEFORE you rename and delete it. Otherwise you are crippling the wiki with creating broken links. Thanks. --Koba44 (talk) 09:14, 5 October 2018 (CDT)

Hi. I second time reverted your changes to mission walkthrough of Mudd's Enterprise. This time I wasted 20 chronitons to verify that all nodes truly has the identical amount of bonus trait points. This is common to all away team missions (if not somewhere - that is a bug and should be addressed that way.) If you point the cursor on bonus numbers, you can see the bonus given if your crew is tired (used same crew on two or more subsequent nodes). Lowered bonus amounts that you entered are perfect match for tired crew, which should be considered when entering bonuses. Please do not revert those changes, unless you find real bug somewhere (what is of course also possible, but not in this time). Thanks. --Koba44 (talk) 10:25, 20 January 2019 (CST)

Same with Into the Lion's Den mission... also tired crew stats entered. I dont know in which missions exactly you entered bonus stats of tired crew. Could you please revise your edits and revert those with wrong stats? Thanks a lot. --Koba44 (talk) 10:36, 20 January 2019 (CST)
Well, as I wrote already, I run Mudd's Enterprise, with different crew for subsequent DIP nodes, which were entered on wiki with lowered stats. I confirmed, that no deviation of bonus points was present for me, thus I concluded there was written tired crew stats. Please, when you find real deviation in bonus numbers, treat and enter it as bug - there is a template for it Template:Bug. Then it could be handled more easily (reported to DB and waiting forever to their response :) ). For example I found wrong number of chronitons needed for E9-M4A mission: Bearing_Up#Notes. Thanks! --Koba44 (talk) 00:19, 22 January 2019 (CST)

Events not increasing on Main Page count or Total Events

I have been added Events to the Calendar & Mega pages for months, & just noticed that Kosst Kejal & events after that are not on the Category:Events Page & are not being counted as Events. I looked through The Isthmian Games 2 (the last Events listed on Category:Events) to see if I missed a flag that would count Kosst Kejal but no dice. If I can add events I'd like to continue doing so, but I can't seem to find what keeps the count going. TY, Joesage2 (talk)

Disfigured Pike

Hi. Great thing in correcting Disfigured Pike crewmember name. Please create redirect link in similar situations in the future. Renaming a page without redirecting is "crippling". :D Yes, its my favorite word. --Koba44 (talk) 15:39, 8 March 2019 (CST)

Crew Card and Event Images

Hi Middlehead, do you get the images for the crew card head from the Star Trek Timelines website and how do I add the crew card for those without crew card? What other sites can I go to, to obtain the crew card?

Also, with the Event images, how do I upload multiple images with different resolutions? I have only been uploading one resolution for the image.

Thank you.

Deleted

According to the Recent Changes, you deleted the .png file I uploaded. I uploaded file and didn't notice that it had been named .PNG. That file would not display. So I marked it for deletion, and uploaded the .png. Was this the file you removed?? Thanks Ace (talk) 11:34, 7 April 2019 (CDT)

Oh, I get it. You see the others I marked for deletion? Hopefully I did that right. Ace (talk) 12:16, 7 April 2019 (CDT)

New character page

Are you able to tell me what is going on here? https://stt.wiki/wiki/Gary_Seven_(Character) I created it, to fix the bad url of the old one, but why don't the versions show? I am hoping it's time delay, waiting to update? Ace (talk) 12:20, 7 April 2019 (CDT)

Thank you sir! Ace (talk) 20:34, 7 April 2019 (CDT)

Edits

You need to please stop undoing edits that I make to item pages. This is something that's bothered me for a while now. Unless my edit is actually wrong, please leave it alone. --Darxide (talk) 11:27, 10 April 2019 (CDT)

None of that is a big deal. What is a big deal is making edits that erase the AWTB numbers that I had filled in. The rest of it is your opinion, however. --Darxide (talk) 11:58, 10 April 2019 (CDT)

CrewNav/Pages

I started a few changes on the CrewNav that seemed beneficial. For instance, we had Jack, Crusher, and Wesley. Inconsistent. However, looking at all the inconsistencies, and the corresponding similarities in the crew and character pages, should I just leave it alone? It seems no one before me has seen the need to fix it. I want to talk with someone about it. ThanksAce (talk) 21:17, 10 April 2019 (CDT)

I have a question regarding the {{Template:CrewNav}} page. While it says to maintain it in alphabetical order, by their surname, I've noticed that some characters aren't alphabetical. Such as Insectoid Councilor, M-113 Creature, La Rouque, Orion Slaver. Souldn't Orion Slaver go under S and La Rouque go under R if using the surname scheme? Also, why do some crew not have a link associated with their page, when they do have page? Is there a reason for this?
Can you help me out with this section? I'll probably just leave this to the experts but I was just curious.
--Captain Spirk (talk) 08:49, 11 July 2019 (CDT)
I have created the base page for La Rouque. Let me know if I have created this properly.

Prefilling Equipment Info

If you're going to say that I can't prefill PSSB after two levels of equipment show no boost then please don't fill in AWTB, either, please. I had to change Super Rare La Forge's Torture Device ★★★★ because the stats you filled in were wrong. Thank you. --Darxide (talk) 15:59, 22 April 2019 (CDT)

I also just noticed that his uniforms are wrong as well. If the numbers are filled in, I subconsciously don't even look at them. So please leave them blank from now on until you see them for yourself. Thanks again. Edit: I actually think it's a bug in the case of his uniform. --Darxide (talk) 16:16, 22 April 2019 (CDT)
I only assume no PSSB after two items don't give any. I have never once seen an item that gives any PSSB when two items don't. Only very rarely will the lowest level give no PSSB, but the others do. That's why I blank out PSSB after the I fill in the second item with no stat. AWTB stats follow odd patterns probably 1 in every 10 new crew. I just find it distracting when the stats are in already. Or rather the opposite. Like I said, it makes it very easy to overlook. Especially if the numbers are close. For instance, this last edit I had to change your prefilled (40-80) into (45-85) and that is the kind of thing very easily overlooked. Anyhow, we can disagree with wiki editing strategies all day. As long as the right info is in at the end, I don't much care one way or the other. Just letting you know my opinion. --17:46, 24 April 2019 (CDT)

Ship Stats Last Confirmed

Hey Middlehead, I just moved Talk:Ships to Ship Stats Last Confirmed. Figured you should know as you are the main person updating that page. I added a note to the top of Talk:Ships as well. That will get rid of the warning for no signature on a talk page as the new page is not a talk page. Titantalk 07:01, 29 April 2019 (CDT)

ShipAbility display order

Why do you keep changing the display order of Cooldown and Duration in ShipAbility? Every screen in the game reads Cooldown->Duration, matching the in-game reading order makes the most sense to me. Middlehead (talk) 11:36, 1 May 2019 (CDT)

Because it's in chronological order having Initialization - Duration - Cooldown. It makes it way easier to read when you're figuring out how best to assign crew to your ships. That's the whole point of the wiki, making it easier to play the game. Initially we had it as Initialization - Cooldown - Duration to match the game to make it easier on editors to input the data because that ship ability was a simple table. Now that it's a template, we can have it both easier for editors to edit and have it in chronological order. --Siguard (talk) 14:02, 3 May 2019 (CDT)

Event Storm Warning

Hi Middlehead,

I've fixed the image for the Event Storm Warning as it was displaying the Starfleet Insignia on the left, instead of the crew you can get. Would you like me to send over the fixed image?

The Bashirs

Hi,

I created the page for Bashirs for the Template:CrewNav page. But there's a few teething problems with it. Such as, the title of the page is not displaying properly. It says Bashirs instead of The Bashirs and there are no {{SACharacter}} image for them. Would you be able to fix this for me?

--Captain Spirk (talk) 23:31, 4 September 2019 (CDT)

Character Pages

Hi Middlehead,

Whenever I create a Character Page for a certain crew in the Template:CrewNav, I don't get an image for the {{SACharacter}} portion of the page. I don't get an image for the characters that I create. This has happened to me before when I created The Bashirs (Character) and now when I created Jellico

Do I need to wait until the image for {{SACharacter}} exists or will it automatically add the image for us? How do I know if the image exists for {{SACharacter}}?

Do I test {{SACharacter}} on my sandbox before creating character page?

Thanks.

Crewnav

Do you have any feedback? See Template_talk:CrewNav#Dynamically_generated Titantalk 14:22, 1 October 2019 (CDT)

See User:Titan/Sandbox/1. The top collapsed nested table is where Ace's table (or similar) would go. The Bottom table is dynamically generated using dpl from any pages in category Characters. I agree with the few complaints i have seen about the new template. Unless you know what show a specific character originally appeared in, it is very hard to find them. Having both tables has the disadvantage of slightly slower load times, but easier navigation. All things considered though, the load time of the entire template (with both tables) would still be less than the ATS table. Titantalk 06:56, 3 October 2019 (CDT)
Updated it a bit more, Alphabetical is basically done. Only caveat is it sorts characters by first name (should be able to be changed). Other table is partially done. The table Ace created i find to be horrible to use (and edit) because of how many tables are nested in some cases. The examples i made do not nest tables. The final template can include both tables to give users an option of which to use. Need feedback on the tables though. Thanks, Titantalk 06:12, 4 October 2019 (CDT)

Would you mind adding categories (See below for category names) to character pages instead of adding those characters to the crewnav sorted by show table? That way once enough characters have been added, we can switch to the autogenerated table. NOTE: Characters SHOULD show up in ALL series they are a part of. (i.e. Worf should be in TNG and DS9), however they should only appear in "Appears in Movies" if they only appear in movies. That will help keep that section at a reasonable length. Titantalk 02:46, 18 October 2019 (CDT)

See User:Titan/Sandbox/3 for a list of pages that need to be added. Titantalk 03:07, 18 October 2019 (CDT)
See User:Titan/Sandbox/2 for the current table. This table is autogenerated using the categories listed on User:Titan/Sandbox/3 Titantalk 03:22, 18 October 2019 (CDT)
