Starbase Template

I changed the starbase template slightly, now your fleet has its own "style" named tufg. Take a look and see if you want to modify it, I just added a horizontal option. Titantalk 10:53, 29 September 2017 (CDT)

Hello there Siguard: I saw a message suggesting if I wanted to join TUFG I should leave a message on your Talk page. Name's Kyjask, DBID 876967807287296 Looking to join your fleet. Currently in Gayest Geeks, and I do think it's starting to wilt, sadly. Looks like you might have some spots open. For now looking for just me, though I may have squad members who follow. Can't say for sure. Send me a message in-game, or on here. Can always friend me. --Kyjask (talk) 19:53, 04 October 2017 (EDT)

Deal or No Deal Template

Hey Siguard, I wanted to start out by saying I found your Deal or No Deal template and love it. I was just wondering if there was a way to utilize it using different currency, if we can incorporate the ship schematics offer, and lastly how did you figure out the formula? My fleet relies on me to provide them the info because it is so useful but it is on my user page. I could create some spreadsheet to make it more accessible, but wasn’t sure how you came up with the formula. Was there any thought to incorporate maybe a dedicated offers STT Wiki page so that all users could input they’re data and calculate the value? Just a few thoughts, let me know what you think? Thank you in advance. MulezSti (talk) 20:06, 10 October 2017 (CDT)

Thank you very much!
First, the formula is values everything to "how much Dilithium it takes" and then converts that to the USD cost per dilithium. However, since the dilithium cost per chroniton boost/cadet ticket/credit purchase changes with how many you've bought in a day, I took an average for what I'm willing to spend in a day. Everything is based on a VIP level of 14, just because I'm level 14.
Second, I can't find a way to get a value for ship schematics, because there's no real way to buy them with dilithium. ...However, I could figure out the cost of ship schematics from the drop rate in event packs. Yeah, I should do that...
Lastly, I'm currently writing out a spreadsheet for you that would be more versatile/accurate depending on your VIP level and whatnot. I'll try to have it done by this coming Monday's offer. ;) --Siguard (talk) 22:01, 11 October 2017 (CDT)
Ok that would be great! No rush, whenever you get around to it would be OK. After the amount of work I put into our Wiki Page, I can appreciate a well built template and the work that went into it to create it and I hope you didn’t mind I used it because it was that awesome. I am also a VIP 14 and I was wondering does the formula also consider the extra Dil per dollar amount spent? And I wish there was a way to calculate the honor I would get when I airlock over 150 crew when I buy the 25 or 30 packs. LOL but because they have different values I try to remember to calculate the difference and then add it to the template to get and accurate pickture of savings. If you need any help let me know but I think you are a far better wiki guru then me at the moment. Thanks for the reply and all your assistance so fare. MulezSti (talk) 22:20, 11 October 2017 (CDT)
Hey MulezSti, I've finished the Deal or No Deal spreadsheet and saved it as a [google sheet here]. It's not my prettiest spreadsheet I've put together, but it has more functionality than my template, plus I've added drop rate data for event packs/Premium 10x packs to figure out how much honor you'd get on average for however many packs bought. Also, I did work out an average cost for Ship Schematics using the drop rate data for the packs. Let me know if you have any questions about it. --Siguard (talk) 15:55, 17 October 2017 (CDT)
Hey Siguard. I have glanced at the Spreadsheet and I'm looking foward to puting it to the test whenever I get my next offer. Which suprisingly wasn't yesterday. Weird. Thank you for your assistance on that. Do you plan on updating your Wiki temlate in the future with these new parameters or leave it as is? It is still a nice template. Starbase images

Hey Siguard, would it be possible to get a image for chrons that is the same dimensions as the rest of the skills for the starbase template? Template:Fleet Starbase Bonuses Titantalk 13:47, 27 October 2017 (CDT)

Why yes, I can. I made it the same dimensions as the others and enlarged the Chron. symbol a little bit. The words, however, are smaller. If you look at it now, it's all stretched to hell, need to wait till the server refreshes the images.--Siguard (talk) 14:50, 27 October 2017 (CDT)

Equipment Icons

Hi. Can I ask why you removed the icon for Micro-Optic Drill and pushed them all over to EJ-7 Interlock instead? --Darxide (talk) 22:13, 4 November 2017 (CDT)

Because they are the same image, but we have Micro-Optic Drill picture series and an EJ-7 Interlock series. So I condensed it down to just the one series. As to why I picked EJ-7 over the Micro-Optic, it was just a matter of going through the images alphabetically. Are they slightly different and I didn't notice?--Siguard (talk) 09:19, 6 November 2017 (CST)
The Micro-Optic Drill has a red tip while the EJ-7 Interlock has a white tip. The images are slightly different, yes. I did some reverting and put the images of the Micro-Optric Drill back without affecting the EJ-7 Interlock, but the Legendary Micro-Optic Drill image really needs replaced. --Darxide (talk) 09:31, 6 November 2017 (CST)
Damn, ok. I'm on it.--Siguard (talk) 10:41, 6 November 2017 (CST)
Thanks. By the way, where do you get such clean icons? I always take mine from game screenshots which are never the best. --Darxide (talk) 14:30, 6 November 2017 (CST)
Thanks for noticing :). It's a combination of replicating, screenshots, and photo editing. I replicate to get the "item behold" image
So that I can get a clear, large image without any stars. Then I can use a Photoshop like program, Gimp, to add in the border and stars for all rarities, even if it currently doesn't exist, because there may be a future item with the same image.--Siguard (talk) 21:21, 6 November 2017 (CST)

ATSB macro

Hi Siguard!
I was taking it slow for a while, so I missed all the "fun" with the starbases messing up the wiki stats ^^
Now I sporadically started to add stuff again, and so I noticed that, while you yourself wrote this nice {{ATSB}}-Macro, you don't seem to be using it in your recent edits. May I ask why, and how you make sure in your edits to get the "unbiased" values, without using your template? Cheers! --Crunch (talk) 15:30, 17 November 2017 (CST)

I, recently, have cracked the fusion code for the game, so now I can fill out any crew's ATS tables given one skill per level and at least two at lvl 100 with only a rounding error of +/- 1, the same error we're seeing with the starbase bonuses. The game seems to only display skill numbers as whole numbers int(), but does all the math with numbers with decimal points float(). Anyway, I decided to fill in the gaps on our oldest crew. I'm glad I did, because THE oldest crew all have errors in their tables due to past server updates. Luckily, the errors are simple fixes like "+7 +(0–0) Command for all levels." There's a good 177+ crew to go through that have been around for at least 3 months, so this is going to be a long, long process.--Siguard (talk) 09:12, 20 November 2017 (CST)

Hey Siguard,
Would you mind fixing the naming for the few images uploaded today (and leaving a message on that persons wall)? Im not positive on the naming anymore for full crew images.
Thanks, Titantalk 12:09, 30 November 2017 (CST)

Uploaded Images

Hi Siguard, regarding the images, I'll remember that for the future, but when I uploaded them I didn't see any hints regarding that information on the image upload page. If I missed it, I'll check again. If not though, it may be helpful to add it there. I was just trying to avoid spaces in file names because, as a developer and linux user, I can't stand having spaces in file names, directory names, urls, etc. But, professionally, I do understand the importance of consistency, so if that is the convention I'll gladly go by it.

However, I'm not sure about the space around the image issue. When I view the PNG in my own system's utilities, I get the gray and white checkboard indicating that there is nothing whatsoever around the image, so I'm not sure what happened there. Other than the character's outline, the checkerboard starts right at the character's outline. Do you mean cropping the image down to barely containing the character itself? If so, I can do that too.

Where do you get the character headshots from?

Hey there!

I'm working on a spreadsheet tool for tracking characters earned in game, and I was wondering where you get the character headshots from for the wiki?

Thanks! DeltaGemini (talk) 14:32, 1 December 2017 (CST)

Back in the day, we got head shots from the Crew screen in-game from whomever had the best resolution. But ever since we got caught up, it's been taken from the event image that DB posts on their Facebook page. --Siguard (talk) 14:57, 1 December 2017 (CST)
Thanks! Great work! DeltaGemini (talk) 15:13, 3 December 2017 (CST)

Crew Table

Hey Siguard,

One nice thing about the new crew table template is that it will be easy to modify so the new starbase rooms are accounted for. Im going to work on that in around ~2 weeks. It shouldn't be too hard, and I tried to make the template easy to read (the code), so if you want to give it a shot, feel free to. I was thinking [[Fleet Name/starbase/prof-max/cmd]] etc. Titantalk 12:53, 7 December 2017 (CST)

Hey, would you test the changes I made to the ATS template, and check if it works for you. I updated the tutorial as well. If it all works, would you mind posting a site notice for people to see and go to the tutorial to update their bonuses. The template WILL break slightly (only the table) if a fleet has some starbase rooms but not others. Im not going to try to code a way to prevent this as it will be a pain. All bonuses default to 0, so the table itself shouldn't break. Thanks, Titantalk 16:32, 18 December 2017 (CST)
Looks great! How does the ATS template look? Titantalk 12:28, 19 December 2017 (CST)

Crew Max skill Template

Hey, i noticed what you are doing and it looks good. ALTHOUGH, i think perhaps making a template that gets stats from crew subpages might be better as the template wouldnt need updating efter every new crew or stat change. A template that verifies if the entered name is a crew member, and returns either a table row, table, or just the top stat depending on options entered. Info can be stored at subpages of crew like Tempted Data/skill1_base (for the 5 star level 100 base stat of the primary skill. Tempted Data/skill1 would be the shortcode for the skill (eng, i think). This would be easier to maintain in the long term i think, and would have more potential features, such as using to keep data tables on other pages accuratly updated (such as the engineering table). Thoughts? Titantalk 12:51, 19 December 2017 (CST)

ItemPic Template

Hey Siguard. I just converted my Crew Quarters over to {{ItemPic}} for all item images, but a few still show up as the 'error' icon and I can't figure out why. If you look at the bottom under the Cryostasis Vault you'll find Kang, Kor, and Koloth. All three of them show the 'error' icon for their armor. I've already looked at {{ItemPic/1}} and everything appears correct there, at least to my eye. Since all three of them use the same icon for their armor and since all three are not displaying properly, it seems like it should be a problem in the Similar Item list, but I just can't find a problem. Could you look at this and tell me what the problem is? Thanks. --Darxide (talk) 13:27, 26 December 2017 (CST)

Hi Darxide! It was one typo for Kang, an incorrect name for Koloth, and Kor's doesn't have the "TOS" suffix. I fixed it on your page :o) --Crunch (talk) 16:50, 26 December 2017 (CST)
I don't even know how I managed to screw all three of those up at the same time. It just made me think there was something wrong with that icon. I didn't have problems with any other item, either. Thanks Crunch. --Darxide (talk) 20:53, 26 December 2017 (CST)

Icon Pictures

Hey Sigard. Hope you had a great Holiday and a great new year. Just had a quick question because I’ve seen your name on some of the files when I’ve been looking. There are certain icons I’d like to use and incorporate into my wiki page and was wondering if there was a place to request an upload or some other means? I’m looking for the trophy icon in the gauntlet, the galaxy icon in the bottom right of the game, Commander; Captain; Admiral icons in the battle arena . All I can do is screenshot and crop and it doesn’t match the other icons that I’m referencing in my page. Does that make sense? Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks again. MulezSti (talk) 14:39, 27 December 2017 (CST)

I responded (Finally, sorry) to your post on my page. Thanks MulezSti (talk) 11:36, 16 February 2018 (CST)

ItemPic Request

Hey again, Siguard. I was wondering if it was possible to get another option for the {{ItemPic}} template, if possible. I don't even know if it's possible, but I suspect it might be. I'd like to be able to stop commenting out items on my Crew Quarters that I don't have equipped. Is it possible for an icon to be "greyed out" or in some other way darkened or faded to indicate what goes there, but that it isn't equipped and to have that option put into ItemPic, maybe? Thanks. --Darxide (talk) 00:21, 29 December 2017 (CST)

Darxide, That turned out to be easier than I thought. Adding the variable "gray=y" to the {{ItemPic}} template call will put a semi-translucent gray layer over the image. So something like
will return:
--Siguard (talk) 10:10, 29 December 2017 (CST)
Wow, that was quick and came out better than I expected. Thanks! --Darxide (talk) 14:10, 29 December 2017 (CST)

Something is wrong with the grey options. Go back to my Crew Quarters, edit the page and then select preview without making any changes. Scroll to the bottom and look at what the edit box looks like. As I add more grey ItemPics in place of the commented out icons more and more elements on the page get messed up until eventually large parts of the page are no longer displaying. Now exit edit mode and go back to the normal Crew Quarters page and view source on the page. Go down to line 5385. You'll find a large bank of extra </div> tags that do not belong there. In fact, they don't belong anywhere. It seems that using the grey option is inserting extra div closing tags which will begin destroying the layout of the page which becomes more and more apparent the more you have. Once I had converted all of the blank icons to grey ItemPics, everything on the page was gone except the Active Crew table. Nothing else was visible at all. I've already rolled back the edits that I made, but you can go to the page history and view them just to see how much is missing from the bottom of the page. --Darxide (talk) 01:47, 30 December 2017 (CST)
I figured out what was going on. In your blank code section, the<div display:none> wasnt playing well with {{ItemPic}}. I put that section in an <includeonly> section, so you won't see it on the Crew Quarters page, but it will be an issue if you transclude that page somewhere else.--Siguard (talk) 22:04, 30 December 2017 (CST)
I don't think there's any danger in me ever transcluding my Crew Quarters page anywhere. Thanks for figuring that out. That section is just there for my own use to copy/paste whenever I add a new crew memeber. Thanks for looking at this. I couldn't figure it out and I stared at the template for a long time. It never occurred to me that the problem was something on my page that was interacting strangely. --Darxide (talk) 22:39, 30 December 2017 (CST)

Update - Upon further review, it seems the problem is still there, it just doesn't hide portions of my page anymore. Any page using the grey option will experience issues, but these problems only affect whatever is below the page content. For most Wiki pages, this is nothing. Though, there will be pages that are affected by this. For instance, any page being edited will still have the edit box and all info under the edit box affected. You can still see this on my Crew Quarters page if you enter edit mode, preview, and then scroll all the way to the bottom. Let's look at an example.
<td> <div style="position:relative;width:50px;margin:auto;"><a href="/wiki/Diplomatic_Dress_Uniform_VOY" title="Diplomatic Dress Uniform VOY"><img alt="DiplomaticDressUniformVOYLegendary.png" src="/w/images/thumb/4/41/DiplomaticDressUniformVOYLegendary.png/50px-DiplomaticDressUniformVOYLegendary.png" width="50" height="50" srcset="/w/images/thumb/4/41/DiplomaticDressUniformVOYLegendary.png/75px-DiplomaticDressUniformVOYLegendary.png 1.5x, /w/images/thumb/4/41/DiplomaticDressUniformVOYLegendary.png/100px-DiplomaticDressUniformVOYLegendary.png 2x" /></a><div style="position:absolute;left:0px;top:0px;overflow:hidden;width:50px;height:50px"><div style="position:relative;left:0px;top:0px;"><a href="/wiki/Diplomatic_Dress_Uniform_VOY" title="Diplomatic Dress Uniform VOY"><img alt="Grey.png" src="/w/images/thumb/a/a7/Grey.png/50px-Grey.png" width="50" height="50" srcset="/w/images/thumb/a/a7/Grey.png/75px-Grey.png 1.5x, /w/images/thumb/a/a7/Grey.png/100px-Grey.png 2x" /></a></div></div>
This is the code block that displays the first item for Sniper Ezri Dax. I don't have this item equipped to her, so it's greyed out. If you look at the code, there are three opening div tags, but only two closing div tags. I copied the source code of the page into Notepad++ and did a count on opening and closing tags, and there are equal numbers of them. What seems to be happening is that the extra closing div that should be in the snipped of code above is actually getting put at the bottom of the page which is screwing everything up. So I was wrong when I thought there extra </div> tags on the page. They're just being put in the wrong place. --Darxide (talk) 23:12, 30 December 2017 (CST)
Ok, I'm pretty sure I got it now. Sorry for all of the trial and error here.--Siguard (talk) 11:28, 1 January 2018 (CST)
New problem. Look at my Crew Quarters page. You'll immediately see what's wrong. This seems to be a problem anywhere using the {{ItemPic}} template. I see it all over the Wiki now. And don't worry about the trial and error. It happens. --Darxide (talk) 12:32, 1 January 2018 (CST)
Alright, take a look now and let me know if anything is still messed up. If it is, then could you take a screenshot and post it here? I'm not seeing anything else wrong.--Siguard (talk) 17:23, 1 January 2018 (CST)
Ok, so far I don't see anything wrong. I'll let you know if I find anything. Thanks for taking the time to work on this. --Darxide (talk) 17:47, 1 January 2018 (CST)

Full Body Image uploads

Hey Siguard, I've uploaded some new full body images to the wiki and will continue to do so as I have time, but I wanted to mention I forgot to put the "Full" part in the filename. I'll try to change it if I can figure it out, but FYI for the existing ones. This affects Mariachi Q, Florist Q, and The Clown. Going forward I will remember. --Sorinev (talk) 11:05, 10 January 2018 (CST)

Siguard, a question regarding full body image code on wiki pages. I've been using Tempted Data as my model for when I add new full body images, but after I added Florist Q, it was changed to something totally different that is completely based on the page name of the character (completely dynamic - no manually typing crew member name). I assume that's the preferred way then? And is there anything else I should know?
