# User talk:Siguard

Hey Siguard, I've uploaded some new full body images to the wiki and will continue to do so as I have time, but I wanted to mention I forgot to put the "Full" part in the filename. I'll try to change it if I can figure it out, but FYI for the existing ones. This affects Mariachi Q, Florist Q, and The Clown. Going forward I will remember. --Sorinev (talk) 11:05, 10 January 2018 (CST)

Siguard, a question regarding full body image code on wiki pages. I've been using Tempted Data as my model for when I add new full body images, but after I added Florist Q, it was changed to something totally different that is completely based on the page name of the character (completely dynamic - no manually typing crew member name). I assume that's the preferred way then? And is there anything else I should know?

## Crew Table

Hey, Was adding the new collection boosts easy? I tried when originally making that template to allow for other percentage bonuses to come up so it was easy to expand. 03:11, 4 March 2018 (CST)

Adding the actual bonuses to the table was fairly easy, the hardest part was figuring out I needed to have the code say User:{{CURRENTUSER}}/cvc instead of how you had {{User: {{CURRENTUSER}}/fleet}}. Those currly brackets can be tricky. Heh. (I actually figured out WHY just now when I previewed this post without having the nowiki tags on there) --Siguard (talk) 09:28, 4 March 2018 (CST)
Haha, glad to hear it was easy. Yup, on the fleet one you want to go to the fleet page's subpages, however on the cvc ones you want to stay with the user subpages. Think it would be possible for you to (if user/cvc path exists) display Fleet <fleetname> + User collection bonuses in the heading to the starbase table. And perhaps figure out where the best place for a link to those pages would be? (i.e. Separate the percentages into +4% (+5%) for fleet (collection) or something like that.) 22:42, 4 March 2018 (CST)

## Item images

May i suggest that we start creating redirect pages following the naming scheme for items for all items that have the same icon as another. This will make it so we can just have a template that takes the item name and rarity and automatically add the correct image, rather then have to have a list of all images that is parsed? Would be more efficient, and easier to expand in the future (i think) when more images are added. Just a thought 16:42, 5 March 2018 (CST)

I don't know. Currently, I'm working on adding Root Images to the wiki. These 200x200px images were first add as a solution to the not-exactly-perfect Item flip issue and now I've expanded it to all images. The {{ItemPic}} Template first looks for the specific rarity of the image, if one doesn't exist, it'll use a root image (say a Text Book ) and add a rarity cover over it (like ) to make . So, in the future (and last week), all we'll need to upload for new images will be the Root Image (and Base Image, the basic version of an item, for now).
I understand this isn't exactly want your talking about. You're more talking about getting rid of the need to enter the ItemName on crafting tables and use redirects instead of having to go through {{ItemPic/1}} for the same looking images. It could be even with the root images, but I don't think it could look up specific rarities before overlaying the images. I'm not 100% on if that would be the case. But first I need to create and upload about 571 Root Images.--Siguard (talk) 09:40, 6 March 2018 (CST)
Nice, that makes sense. Uploading 1 image per item is nice. 10:07, 6 March 2018 (CST)

## DPL

Hey, You should take a closer look at extension: Dynamic Page list 3. (just search in google that along with mediawiki). Here is an example of its usage:

20:57, 11 March 2018 (CDT)

I see you are experimenting with DPL, like it so far? I think it will be real useful for populating pages like that, and perhaps if we start adding subpages for all crew pages with such as:
• Crew/skill1
• Crew/skill2
• Crew/skill3

ifexist: Crew/skill1

• Crew/skill1/FFEE_base
• Crew/skill1/FFEE_maxprof

etc.

That would allow auto populating tables such as the crew list, just using category crew. Would also allow auto populating gauntlet crew. Thoughts? 21:49, 19 March 2018 (CDT)

Hi there, Titan mentioned you were quite knowledgeable with adding images to various pages and know the process, my problem is the main logo of my Fleet, which I made recently but I can't seem to change the thumbnail dimension or 'delete the current' for the newer versions. (which are 800x800) TIA - TPol Sasha0z (talk) 13:58, 20 March 2018 (CDT) File:Fleet_FREEDOM_FIGHTERS!.png

I'm not entirely sure what you're having trouble with. The fleet logo you want is the 800x800px Starfleet-esque logo, right? If so, it's already on your fleet page. If you're wanting to change the size of that logo on the fleet page, the you should delete the red part of the code below and then change the size of the green section of code.
{{InfoBox
|Box title = [FF] Freedom Fighters!
|Image file=[[File:{{PAGENAME}}.png|300px]]
|Image size = 200px
|Row 1 title = Created
|Row 1 info = Janurary 2016
Also, a word of caution. The File pages take a few hours to update. So, don't trust any squished images it may be showing if you had recently changed it.--Siguard (talk) 14:35, 20 March 2018 (CDT)

Hi again, I'm very new to the Wiki, yes at the link (of the image, not 'fleet') you'll see that the dimensions are actually showing as (785 × 296 pixels, file size: 98 KB, MIME type: image/png) << that is actually the 'old' logo dimensions, I had 'swapped' it for the new one when the new logo wouldn't change, then Titan had helped me (not sure of the steps, but at least it fixed and then showed at both the Fleet Page and Fleets Lists' pages. I simply need to delete or get rid of what shows here File:Fleet_FREEDOM_FIGHTERS!.png as it is 'set' to the dimensions of the old image, even though it shows correctly at the pages, it doesn't on the 'image page' because of the old thumbnails dimensions. Titan had advised me to get in touch with you to help fix it, also that there was a known glitch, but in this case I need to set it so it is the second down at the image page, as you'll note it does not show as 785x296 as per the current one. Sasha0z (talk) 14:56, 20 March 2018 (CDT)

Aha.. it either fixed when I tried the 'revert' before posting on you page here, but as you say, it took a little while.. Thanks Sasha0z (talk) 15:03, 20 March 2018 (CDT) Oh dear, a minute ago it was at 800 x 800 (actually 4 were there, and the old one at the bottom) now it's gone back to the old 785x296 again sizing again The squished 'current one was gone' now it's back. Sasha0z (talk) 15:20, 20 March 2018 (CDT) help :/

Had reverted the image again yesterday, also a quick chat to Crunch, issue sorted and thanks for your help as well, Cheers TPol - Sasha0z (talk) 04:01, 22 March 2018 (CDT)

## Category Values

Hey, thought I would let you know that we ran a few maintenance scripts and got the category values to populate correctly now. (well, I cant say for future, but current values are correct). 21:20, 29 March 2018 (CDT)

## Dot before image name?

Hi Siguard! Out of curiosity, what is the reason for this dot you added to the image name of this item? Cheers, --Crunch (talk) 16:29, 15 April 2018 (CDT)

It's a tldr thing. I did that to "flag" any item image that didn't look 100% perfect as unused images and did a mass delete. Most, if not all, dots can be removed. --Siguard (talk) 18:40, 15 April 2018 (CDT)

## Wiki Extracts Plugin

Hi Siguard,

I was told recently that STT Wiki lacks the Extracts Plugin can this be fixed? Had stated that I should contact them & get the stt wiki to run this plugin Wiki's without the plugin make it very difficult to 'grab info from wiki's that don't have it installed'. TIA Siguard, TPol- Sasha0z (talk) 04:50, 17 April 2018 (CDT)

Hi Sasha0z, what are you wanting to use that extension for? The wiki already has a built in API that many people use for bots on discord. This API produces a JSON result, which can be parsed via JavaScript. Here is an example that returns up to 10,000 unused images on the wiki in JSON format, which is easily parable via JavaScript: https://stt.wiki/w/api.php?format=json&action=query&list=querypage&qppage=Unusedimages&qplimit=10000. See the link I provided to the API information of MediaWiki. 08:06, 17 April 2018 (CDT)
Hi Titan, Thanks for the info.. shall pass it on - TPol - Sasha0z (talk) 20:52, 17 April 2018 (CDT)

## Template:ItemX

Would you be able to modify Template:ItemX to not display broken links/image links when on a template:ItemX/itemname page? There are almost 15000 wanted pages on the wiki, most are from that issue. A check for current pagename could be done, if rootpagename (mw:Help:Magic_words#Page_names) is ItemX, change link accordingly. Id rather not mess with a template that complicated that I didn't make. Thanks! 10:57, 17 April 2018 (CDT)

Also, this might be of interest to you, not sure though: Template:Namespace Links. 16:50, 17 April 2018 (CDT)
Hey, Are you sure it's {{ItemX}} that's making all of the wanted pages and not {{ItemPic}}?--Siguard (talk) 08:42, 18 April 2018 (CDT)
No idea, eitherway would you be able to take a look? 09:37, 18 April 2018 (CDT)
Apparently, even if you use an #ifexist:File:....., you trigger the "Wanted pages". I'll go through and flip the if tests in ItemPic so it won't go to the #ifexist:File:..... except for the pages that link to other pages that need root images.--Siguard (talk) 10:26, 18 April 2018 (CDT)
My long term, i.e. over the summer goal, is to make it so that the following categories are empty under Maintenance reports:
Broken redirects Dead-end pages (Not counting Fleet subpages) Double redirects Long pages Oldest pages Orphaned pages (that are not Fleet subpages) Pages with the fewest revisions Pages without language links Protected pages Protected titles Short pages Uncategorized categories (empty except "Star Trek Timelines Wiki" which is the root category)
Note: Some of the links don't update quickly, as a result, they may be out of date. Ignore any pages that are crossed out, they are not "issues". If you would like to help, that would be awesome! 19:53, 18 April 2018 (CDT)

## Fleet Page

Hi there Siguard, was hoping you can help fix something I was trying to change at the Freedom Fighters page (an Events tabbed 'page') it hit a problem, either I'm overtired or I've missed something obvious (really just copied the top of 'my' own profile page), so am sure it's something of a 'code' for the page, have no idea what that might be as it's not 'switching back and forward' from Events to main Fleet Page. Was also trying to make 2 columns for 'Rank so the Sister Fleet could have it's own. Hope you can help or know someone who can.Sasha0z (talk) 09:20, 22 May 2018 (CDT)TIA, TPol:

It turns out that subpages aren't enabled in the Main namespace, so if you use {{BASENAME}} on the page "Fleet FREEDOM FIGHTERS!/Events", it'll return "Fleet FREEDOM FIGHTERS!/Events" instead of "Fleet FREEDOM FIGHTERS!". So I just hardcoded the pagenames in those tabs for you. Also, I hooked you up with new EventListHeader so now you can enter your main fleet and sister fleet ranking in two columns. NOTE: I did not change the EventList template, so you'll have to list the main fleet's rank as the variable "Rank" and the sister fleet's rank as the variable "SquadRank". I went ahead and edited the data you've already entered to show you what I mean.--Siguard (talk) 21:59, 22 May 2018 (CDT)
Thank you so much for the prompt fix and reply, regardless of the level of tiredness I was experiencing, sounds like I certainly would not have worked it out either :)Sasha0z (talk) 02:28, 23 May 2018 (CDT)aka TPol

## New Template Question

Hey Siguard, I'm trying to create a new template. I'm not sure if anyone else is interested in this idea other than myself, but I can think of a few places it could be useful. Anyhow, I want it to be an offshoot of the {{SP}} template. I was going to call it SP2. I'm sure it could be rolled into the existing SP template without hurting already existing uses of it, but that's beyond what I'm comfortable tinkering with. This new template would function exactly as {{SP}} does except that it will then take whatever numbers you input and add your Starbase and Collection Bonuses to them. This way I can use the template on my Crew Quarters page and just input the base stats for each crew since DB was kind enough to put that info right into the game. Then whatever my current bonuses are, they'd be added so that anybody viewing my page would see my crew with my bonuses already added and they could use the same template to do the same. Creating new templates from scratch is not something I'm very strong in, but I can modify existing stuff pretty well. I looked at the {{Crew Page ATS Table}} template thinking that maybe I could somehow just pass my numbers to it and have them come back with bonuses added, but the way that template is setup it doesn't look like that's possible. From there I just took a lot of the guts from {{Crew Page ATS Table}} and mixed them with {{SP}}, but the big problem is that I haven't figured out how to get it so that my bonuses show up instead of the viewer's bonuses. So I guess all of this is a long-winded way of asking for help with this concept. Since you've produced most of the newer (and seemingly complex) templates for the Wiki, you're who I immediately thought of asking first. If you don't care or don't have the time then that's no problem and I understand. :p --Darxide (talk) 20:37, 23 May 2018 (CDT)

I figured I'd respond because I wrote the {{Crew Page ATS Table}} template. I don't have the time at present to help do this but here is my suggestion. Create a separate template that would need the template call would look like: {{spbonus|<base>|<min prof>|<max prof>|<skill>|<username>}}. There is no way to get around needing the skill code, and the username. the username can be used to access the user's cvc bonuses, the User:<username>/fleet page, which then accesses the users fleet bonuses. The username should default to current user if left blank, and ideally not screw up if not logged in. The skill is required to know which bonus to use. This could be incorporated into {{SP}}, but it should be designed as a separate template and "bug tested" before being merged into SP. SP is used on 640 pages extensively, so it is a "high risk" template to edit directly without significant testing. This shouldn't be too hard to implement, especially if using variables. Hope this helps, 00:30, 25 May 2018 (CDT)
Did it. You are now able to use the {{SP}} template with a specific user's bonuses by using {{SP|<base>|<min prof>|<max prof>|<skill>|User=<username>}}. Titan is right though, you do need to enter the skill for this to work, otherwise the template will return the base stats entered.--Siguard (talk) 11:45, 25 May 2018 (CDT)
First, thanks for doing that for me. Though there is a problem. It's returning the incorrect values. I just tested with Kortar, but it's returning numbers higher than they should be. I've double checked on Kortar's crew page and everything is fine there. I checked the page code for the base values and they agree with mine, so it's the calculations in the {{SP}} template that are sending back the wrong numbers. --Darxide (talk) 22:35, 25 May 2018 (CDT)
I've been looking at the new {{SP}} template and I found where it's going wrong. It's using the {{ATSB}} template with a negative bonus. This isn't working right because when calculating bonus stats the game rounds down to the nearest whole number. For example, Kortar's base core Command is 921. My total core Command bonus is 11%. So, 921*1.11 = 1022.31 which the game rounds to 1022. {{ATSB|921|-11}} outputs 1035 instead of 1022. Breaking down {{ATSB}}, {{ATSB|921|-11}} translates to 921/(1-(-11/100)) which equals 1034.83 which gets rounded up to 1035. Basically, {{ATSB}} can't be used in reverse. --Darxide (talk) 23:08, 26 May 2018 (CDT)
Damnit! sorry, I thought I was being clever there. I figured flipping the signs would do the trick, but forgot about the dividing instead of multiplying. That's fixed now.--Siguard (talk) 20:30, 27 May 2018 (CDT)
Thanks a million. One final note, I noticed a few off-by-one errors so I did some looking and it seems that instead of always rounding down, the game rounds to the nearest whole number, so anything with .5 or more is rounded up. I changed the {{UserBonus}} template to reflect that. Now I just have to update my entire Crew Quarters and Vault pages. That's going to be some work. Thanks again. --Darxide (talk) 01:28, 28 May 2018 (CDT)

## Template:ShipAbility - 1StarAbiltyBoost

Great work on the ShipAbility template - much better structure than the old way. I'm noticing that the property "1StarAbiltyBoost" might be mis-spelled, and a lot of Crew pages already have it. Is that spelling of "Abilty" intentional? Or will that change?

Phroglet (talk) 08:27, 30 May 2018 (CDT)

Hahaha, totally not intentional. Awesome... Thanks for the catch.--Siguard (talk) 08:43, 30 May 2018 (CDT)
