## My fleet page being deleted.

My fleet is called Enterprise TNG. Check in game if you want. AwareBwade (talk) 20:18, 11 March 2018 (CDT)

And I have done my starbase bonuses twice and both fleets you have deleted them so if you would please replace them. I am done replacing them all because you can't understand that my fleet name is Enterprise TNG. AwareBwade (talk) 20:20, 11 March 2018 (CDT)

Sorry about that last one. Saw that you moved them after I wrote it. I am new to this forum business. wasn't trying to seem mean. AwareBwade (talk) 20:25, 11 March 2018 (CDT) AwareBwade

## SirFinBird pages

Hi Titan,

Sorry, I'm trying my hand at these "Wiki Articles", if that's the right terminology, for the first time.

The pages in question are learning attempts and I was trying to delete them, because I've decided that's it easier for me to create the pages locally, then upload them when they are ready, rather than piece meal the pages on the Wiki Site.

Also, because I was having trouble getting them to display. I cut and pasted the "fleet code", making appropriate changes for my fleet's name, and made sure I placed it alphabetically. I believed I followed the directions from the Help page, but I couldn't get the User Fleet page to display my edit nor to link to the the pages I created for my fleet.

So I thought I should start the the whole process from the beginning in case I missed something the first time around.

Thank you for you attention and help.

Hi Titan,

Very new to using the Wiki, and am in a quandary and had wanted to alleviate some of the Wiki Fleet page duties from the Admiral of the Fleet, to help out. Having also created a new logo, though now need it fixed, had thought I'd worked it out but it only 'stretched' the older one to the 'size/shape' of the new one on the All Fleets listing page, albeit on the Freedom Fighters main page, the image when clicked it gives the description but states file does not exist you can upload it if you wish, I also noticed it's at the Wiki Upload page.

Would really appreciate some help to tidy it up.

Thank you very much for fixing the issues, amazingly fast as well (the dimensions on the file page are still the 'older' ones though) had also been searching all over the media wiki and STT Wiki Style Guides, but there isn't a dedicated page for it yet. Would appreciate any link or description on adding images, as was going to be adding some Fleet, Event images and so on at some point also. Sasha0z (talk) 22:52, 18 March 2018 (CDT)

## Fleet Page and Sub Pages Deleted - Bart's Mid Iowa Fleet

Why was this fleet page deleted? I just created it yesterday and was following the guide for showing crew proficiency on character pages. I understand why user:Razzun/Fleet was deleted as I moved it to /fleet, but why is everything else being deleted? I now have a bunch of errors showing on crew pages. Razzun (talk) 20:36, 18 March 2018 (CDT)

So you are saying "Fleet Bart's Mid Iowa Fleet"? Razzun (talk) 20:43, 18 March 2018 (CDT)

OK, that explains the issue I was having. Razzun (talk) 20:50, 18 March 2018 (CDT)

Can I get the pages restored/moved under the new page? Or do I have to recreate them? Razzun (talk) 20:52, 18 March 2018 (CDT)

## Delete Bwif-logo.png

I accidentally uploaded under the file under the wrong name as I tried to get the fleet listed under the List Fleets page. Please delete Bwif-logo.png updated by Razzun. Thanks. Razzun (talk) 23:08, 19 March 2018 (CDT)

Thanks for the cleanup and corrections Titan. Razzun (talk) 23:34, 19 March 2018 (CDT)

Noted. Thanks. I will make sure future images follow this. Razzun (talk) 23:49, 19 March 2018 (CDT)

Please delete File:User_Razzun-Gauntlet_Close_Call_1_point.jpg. I didn't realize till after I uploaded and tried to view the page that it uploaded as a JPG file vs. a PNG file. Thanks. Razzun (talk) 12:59, 24 March 2018 (CDT)

## Images Complete

Hey buddy,

I've just completed a multi-week project. First I created every Root Image that we have any sort of image for. Loads of photo editing there. Now we can use {{ItemPic}} for all of our item pic needs. I then went through every item crafting table page and replaced any slightly flawed item rarity image with an ItemPic version. In doing so, I double checked/corrected any errors in the ItemPic calls (if the item is flipped or s different color). Then I added {{SLIpic}} to the {{SLINav}} in an effort to simplify how we add new similar looking items and to have the icon in the SLINav to be linked to the root image regardless of which kind of file is being used in the crafting tables. I'm going to do one more small edit to ItemPic to make it a little simpler for the users. ItemPic will use variables and figure out the requested image size not by the position of that request in the call, but by it having "px" at the end. So when we're looking for the lowest item rarity (which now will always be Basic if a root image is uploaded), we won't have to type {{ItemPic|ItemName|||100px}} but instead we can type {{ItemPic|ItemName|100px}}. Easy.

Also, we now have well over 1,000 unused images (mainly slightly flawed item rarity images). Would you want to mass delete them? --Siguard (talk) 11:38, 29 March 2018 (CDT)

VERY NICE!!! This might be easier, there is a maintenance script to delete all unused images. Would you be able to go through the unused images special page (Special:UnusedFiles) and double check none are needed for anything? For any images that appear to be part of the skin, perhaps create a new page Star Trek Timelines: Skin Images and add them to that, not formatted in any special way. For any other images that we shouldn't delete, add them to another page (doesnt matter name). That would be the easiest way to do this. I dont have the time right now (and wont until this summer) sadly. Titantalk 11:45, 29 March 2018 (CDT)
Alright, I went through the unused files twice and threw a lot of stuff into Category:Images. Everything in the unused files can be deleted. How do you run the script?--Siguard (talk) 15:22, 29 March 2018 (CDT)
Done, any Admiral+ rank on the wiki can now do this. Just go to Special:DeleteBatch, and use as stated here: mw:Extension:DeleteBatch.
The way I got the list was by going to: https://stt.wiki/w/api.php?format=json&action=query&list=querypage&qppage=Unusedimages&qplimit=10000 and downloading it as a .json file.
Then running the code below in terminal (I’m on a Mac, should work on any linux platform with node installed):
\$ node
> const fs = require('fs')
> // Change <INSERT SUMMARY HERE> to text you wish to be in delete summary. I chose "Unused Image".
> fs.writeFileSync('foo.txt', a.query.querypage.results.map(x=>x.title+'|<INSERT SUMMARY HERE>').join('\n'))

Back on stt.wiki, go to Special:DeleteBatch:
1. Set "Run script as" to You (Please try to always remember to do this)
2. Paste 1-200 entries in box
3. Press "delete"
1. WILL take awhile, and might time out.
1. If it times out, refresh the page
1. If the page times out again, try as smaller size.
2. If it shows a long list of white text, then scroll to bottom and click link to go back to DeleteBatch page (or exit).
2. If it displays a success message, click link to go back to DeleteBatch page (or exit).
2. Remember each time the DeleteBatch page loads, you have to change "Run script as" back to "You".
Let me know if you have any questions or have any issues, Titantalk 20:35, 29 March 2018 (CDT)
Alright, I decided to give this a shot to try to understand it/see if there's a way I could do a "RunJobs" with it, but first I tried to delete at least one file using this system. I installed node and tried typing the code in directly into terminal, but it wasn't having it. So I made an app.js file with the code saved on it, but there's some sort of syntax error. I'm not sure what the deal is.--Siguard (talk) 10:11, 10 July 2018 (CDT)
Ok, I figured it out. It took me learning more about terminal and script languages (not a bad thing) the way I had to do it was:
const fs = require('fs')
// Change <INSERT SUMMARY HERE> to text you wish to be in delete summary. I chose "Unused Image".
fs.writeFileSync('foo.txt', a.query.querypage.results.map(x=>x.title+'|<INSERT SUMMARY HERE>').join('\n'))

It's basically the same, but without the "> " in front of the command lines. ...an entire day to go, "oh, let me delete these two characters." Such is coding. --Siguard (talk) 23:38, 10 July 2018 (CDT)

## Template:ItemX

Hey, Are you sure it's {{ItemX}} that's making all of the wanted pages and not {{ItemPic}}?--Siguard (talk) 08:42, 18 April 2018 (CDT)

Apparently, even if you use an #ifexist:File:....., you trigger the "Wanted pages". I'll go through and flip the if tests in ItemPic so it won't go to the #ifexist:File:..... except for the pages that link to other pages that need root images.--Siguard (talk) 10:27, 18 April 2018 (CDT)

## no fix required for Flight Club page

The Flight Club sortable tables are list of Officer/Squadron names - they are not links.

SirFinBird (talk) 22:44, 18 April 2018 (CDT) sirfinbird SirFinBird (talk) 22:44, 18 April 2018 (CDT)

OK, I've removed the brackets, but still don't understand, I copied the syntax from several pages and their pages don't come up as links, in fact the only difference that I see is I'm using 2 columns, where they are using three or more, but whatever.

I thought wiki was where "Encyclopedia informational type" web pages, used HTML tags, where stored.

Where do I find syntax for wiki pages because what's on the HELP links are crap.

When I search for wiki syntax I get links for HTML, XHTML, PHP etc.

## New Discord invite

Please change the Discord invite on the front page and sidebar to: https://discord.gg/8Du7ZtJ. The current one was accidentally revoked and will no longer work. Ashenjuniper (talk) 15:51, 28 April 2018 (CDT)

## Talk Pages

User:Otto VonBacon told me to put questions in one of the talk pages available. For the question that I asked about the screenshots, where would this have been appropriate to put it under? Is there an index of Talk Pages available where I can put the question under? If there is no category, should we put it under the Star_Trek_Timelines:Community_portal page or on your Talk:page? --Captain Spirk (talk) 08:05, 7 May 2018 (CDT)

Rather then creating new talk pages under names that may be used in the future, ask a specific person (your choice who, me, Siguard, Otto, Koba, Crunch, etc) or just post on the community portal. The community portal is for discussions that effect multiple people typically or for general questions about the wiki. The Admin Noticeboard is for technical issues with the wiki. ## Hi from IPA - Help Please if possible.

Hi, I am new to using the STT Wiki and my skills are rudimentary.

You delete my 1st Attempt which is fine.  :~) But, I have gone a bit farther this time and do not want to loose the work.

If I am still having a Naming Issue or Other Issue(s) of Non-Compliance please let me know and I will fix it ASAP.

This is what I have so far, none of this is set in stone, it is just a starting point.

## Hi from IPA

Thanks for cleaning up my ReDirected pages (not sure how to delete my own mistakes, yet). I will try to fix the broker links, now. But, if I can not finish this now, I will have it done by the end of the day Tuesday (Links Fixed). LL&P Adjutant-Christoff (talk) 20:57, 26 May 2018 (CDT)

Hi, Thanks for the offer to help. Question 1; Do I need this page, in order to do something else ? https://stt.wiki/wiki/User:AdjutantChristoff/fleet It seems like an ophen page that I created by mistake. If I do not need it, how can I delete it myself ?

Also, do you remember deleating a picture file I had created ? (Which is fine of course.) I had started working to figure out how to link and use the file, but ran into Problems I could not solve at the time.

I just want to make sure that if you deleated it, it was because it was not linked properly and not because of some other reason.

Thanks for the Help. Adjutant-Christoff (talk) 17:38, 27 May 2018 (CDT)

Hi Again Also I am Stuck on Step 3 here, https://stt.wiki/wiki/Template:Crew_Page_ATS_Table/Tutorial Even though I already have a fleet page made... Fleet Inner Plants Alliance I would greatly appreciate your help in the form of further direction as I would like to learn from my Dificulties. Adjutant-Christoff (talk) 21:13, 27 May 2018 (CDT)

I am still confused as to how to upload the image from my computer, without actually having to go to the "Upload File" link, using the code, User <username> <ImageName>? Do I need to upload the file first? How do we use the image that is on our computer? I'm confused and frustrated. Any help is greatly appreciated. --Captain Spirk (talk) 10:30, 3 June 2018 (CDT)

If I want to show a screenshot without uploading an image to the server, how do I go about doing this? Can you give me a detailed example of how I would go about doing this? Do I first upload the image on my end where it says "Drop Files Here and then use the code [[ Fleet <fleet name> <image name> ]]? I wish there was an instruction page on this and is there such a thing? I'm still new to this whole wiki thing. Thanks. --Captain Spirk (talk) 10:07, 9 June 2018 (CDT)

## Newbie mistake on fleet page

Mea culpa on the first one I created, sorry! Thanks for deleting it for me, Titan! Once I realized it, I created the second one properly.

## Infobox

Is there a way to align the text in the infobox? I want to align the text to the top and such if the images are too big for the text. Is there a way to do this? --Captain Spirk (talk) 06:45, 2 July 2018 (CDT)

## Sandbox

Just a quick question: What is a sandbox and how do you use it? What is a sandbox for? --Captain Spirk (talk) 10:00, 7 July 2018 (CDT)
