My fleet page being deleted.

SirFinBird pages

Hi Titan,

Sorry, I'm trying my hand at these "Wiki Articles", if that's the right terminology, for the first time.

The pages in question are learning attempts and I was trying to delete them, because I've decided that's it easier for me to create the pages locally, then upload them when they are ready, rather than piece meal the pages on the Wiki Site.

Also, because I was having trouble getting them to display. I cut and pasted the "fleet code", making appropriate changes for my fleet's name, and made sure I placed it alphabetically. I believed I followed the directions from the Help page, but I couldn't get the User Fleet page to display my edit nor to link to the the pages I created for my fleet.

So I thought I should start the the whole process from the beginning in case I missed something the first time around.

Adding Images as Files

Hi Titan,

Very new to using the Wiki, and am in a quandary and had wanted to alleviate some of the Wiki Fleet page duties from the Admiral of the Fleet, to help out. Having also created a new logo, though now need it fixed, had thought I'd worked it out but it only 'stretched' the older one to the 'size/shape' of the new one on the All Fleets listing page, albeit on the Freedom Fighters main page, the image when clicked it gives the description but states file does not exist you can upload it if you wish, I also noticed it's at the Wiki Upload page.

Would really appreciate some help to tidy it up.

Thank you very much for fixing the issues, amazingly fast as well (the dimensions on the file page are still the 'older' ones though) had also been searching all over the media wiki and STT Wiki Style Guides, but there isn't a dedicated page for it yet. Fleet Page and Sub Pages Deleted - Bart's Mid Iowa Fleet

Why was this fleet page deleted? I just created it yesterday and was following the guide for showing crew proficiency on character pages. I understand why user:Razzun/Fleet was deleted as I moved it to /fleet, but why is everything else being deleted? I now have a bunch of errors showing on crew pages. Please Delete Wrong Image

Images Complete

Hey buddy,

I've just completed a multi-week project. First I created every Root Image that we have any sort of image for. Loads of photo editing there. Now we can use {{ItemPic}} for all of our item pic needs. I then went through every item crafting table page and replaced any slightly flawed item rarity image with an ItemPic version. In doing so, I double checked/corrected any errors in the ItemPic calls (if the item is flipped or s different color). Then I added {{SLIpic}} to the {{SLINav}} in an effort to simplify how we add new similar looking items and to have the icon in the SLINav to be linked to the root image regardless of which kind of file is being used in the crafting tables. I'm going to do one more small edit to ItemPic to make it a little simpler for the users. ItemPic will use variables and figure out the requested image size not by the position of that request in the call, but by it having "px" at the end. So when we're looking for the lowest item rarity (which now will always be Basic if a root image is uploaded), we won't have to type {{ItemPic|ItemName|||100px}} but instead we can type {{ItemPic|ItemName|100px}}. Easy.

Also, we now have well over 1,000 unused images (mainly slightly flawed item rarity images). Would you want to mass delete them? --Siguard (talk) 11:38, 29 March 2018 (CDT)

VERY NICE!!! This might be easier, there is a maintenance script to delete all unused images. Would you be able to go through the unused images special page (Special:UnusedFiles) and double check none are needed for anything? For any images that appear to be part of the skin, perhaps create a new page Star Trek Timelines: Skin Images and add them to that, not formatted in any special way. For any other images that we shouldn't delete, add them to another page (doesnt matter name). That would be the easiest way to do this. Alright, I went through the unused files twice and threw a lot of stuff into Category:Images. Everything in the unused files can be deleted. How do you run the script?--Siguard (talk) 15:22, 29 March 2018 (CDT)
Done, any Admiral+ rank on the wiki can now do this. Just go to Special:DeleteBatch, and use as stated here: mw:Extension:DeleteBatch.
The way I got the list was by going to: https://stt.wiki/w/api.php?format=json&action=query&list=querypage&qppage=Unusedimages&qplimit=10000 and downloading it as a .json file.
Then running the code below in terminal (I’m on a Mac, should work on any linux platform with node installed):
$ node
> const fs = require('fs')
> let a = JSON.parse(fs.readFileSync('unusedfiles.json'))
> // Change <INSERT SUMMARY HERE> to text you wish to be in delete summary. I chose "Unused Image".
> fs.writeFileSync('foo.txt', a.query.querypage.results.map(x=>x.title+'|<INSERT SUMMARY HERE>').join('\n'))
Back on stt.wiki, go to Special:DeleteBatch:
  1. Set "Run script as" to You (Please try to always remember to do this)
  2. Paste 1-200 entries in box
  3. Press "delete"
    1. WILL take awhile, and might time out.
      1. If it times out, refresh the page
        1. If the page times out again, try as smaller size.
        2. If it shows a long list of white text, then scroll to bottom and click link to go back to DeleteBatch page (or exit).
      2. If it displays a success message, click link to go back to DeleteBatch page (or exit).
    2. Remember each time the DeleteBatch page loads, you have to change "Run script as" back to "You".

Apparently, even if you use an #ifexist:File:....., you trigger the "Wanted pages". I'll go through and flip the if tests in ItemPic so it won't go to the #ifexist:File:..... except for the pages that link to other pages that need root images.--Siguard (talk) 10:27, 18 April 2018 (CDT)

The Flight Club sortable tables are list of Officer/Squadron names - they are not links.

OK, I've removed the brackets, but still don't understand, I copied the syntax from several pages and their pages don't come up as links, in fact the only difference that I see is I'm using 2 columns, where they are using three or more, but whatever.

I thought wiki was where "Encyclopedia informational type" web pages, used HTML tags, where stored.

Where do I find syntax for wiki pages because what's on the HELP links are crap.

When I search for wiki syntax I get links for HTML, XHTML, PHP etc.

User:Otto VonBacon told me to put questions in one of the talk pages available. For the question that I asked about the screenshots, where would this have been appropriate to put it under? Is there an index of Talk Pages available where I can put the question under? Rather then creating new talk pages under names that may be used in the future, ask a specific person (your choice who, me, Siguard, Otto, Koba, Crunch, etc) or just post on the community portal. The community portal is for discussions that effect multiple people typically or for general questions about the wiki. The Admin Noticeboard is for technical issues with the wiki.
